About

This is my personal website and blog. Here you will find articles, devotionals, book reviews, and suggested resources for topics ranging from Youth Ministry, to Missions, to Gospel-Centered Ministry in general. The desire of this website is simply to encourage and edify those willing to read, and to share my personal findings and convictions from Scripture.

Bio

I am currently the Worship Pastor at Sunset Church in San Francisco, CA, where I’ve been serving in a variety of pastoral capacities since 2012. Being born and raised in San Francisco, I came to faith through Sunset Church’s Youth Group while in middle school. I received my B.A. in East Asian Studies from UC Irvine, and my M.Div from Talbot School of Theology. Currently, I am a Doctor of Missiology (D.Miss) candidate at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY.

Being half-Korean, my primary ministry setting has been in the Asian-American church, serving as the youth pastor at a small Korean Church for three years prior to coming to Sunset Church. I have also served as a Campus Pastor for Korean-American Campus Missions (KCM). Growing up bi-racial, studying and understanding culture – especially as it relates to our expressions of faith – has been a life-long interest of mine. As a result, much of my theological reflection, study of Scripture, and writing comes from a multi-ethnic mindset. My current research emphases in missiology are also heavily influenced by my upbringing and life experience with race, culture, and the American/Asian-American Church.

On any given day, you can find me at a coffee shop in San Francisco reading, or hiking with my dog around the city. I love reading fiction, playing/listening to music, and watching the Warriors dominate the NBA. I also love my wife, Janet, and my baby girl, Kara – who we welcomed into our family in 2017.
